    The Shifting Gaze - 4th June 2021

    Day:     Friday
    Time:   4:00 pm
                Through Video Conferencing on Zoom

We have always in some way encountered a beautiful experience, a beautiful object, a beautiful space or simply the idea of beauty.

This has over sedimented years, been instilled as some formula, though also debated by many as being subjective, or as 'beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder'. This formula of beauty has been debated over thousands of years, by philosophers, poets, author’s even mathematicians!

Why is beauty important to mankind? Is it art? Is all art beautiful? What is the purpose of art? Is beauty timeless? What is time for us? History? Tradition? What values do these concepts have for us today?

In today's time, where the world has almost taken a new turn, and to earn another millennium on the planet, everything will need to change; be redefined.

We will need to rethink our processes, notions of growth and time.

We will need to shift our gaze from bling to blurs, from always being certain about the destination and an end, to simply allowing a flow but at times tread lightly on our earth.

Ms. Samira Rathod is the principal architect and founder of Samira Rathod Design Associates (SRDA). Established in 2000 in Mumbai with an uncompromising sense of ethics and passion for design, it has built an enviable portfolio of a variety of architecture, interior projects, furniture designs and art installations. She also founded the SPADE India Foundation – a non-profit, discussion forum of architects, designers, photographers, authors, and editors interested in gathering and disseminating unfiltered viewpoints from within the practice of architecture through their critical publication SPADE India of which Ms. Rathod serves as an editor. She is also the founding director of SIRCLE (SPADE India Research Cell) as a means to more deeply investigate influential ideas uncovered through their discussion forum.

Ms. Rathod will talk about notions of beauty and time, and how processes and ideas are significant to change and how in all this architecture can play an important role.

No matter how old we get, our mental abilities (and even IQ!) are never "set in stone." Because the brain is always adapting and building, our ability to think, remember and learn is never static—it can always be upgraded and improved!

This means we don’t have to “settle” for the mental skills we currently have. While it’s true that certain brain changes are inevitable when it comes to aging, major memory problems are not one of them.

Ms. Shilpa Karia is a registered Clinical Psychologist and a certified Cognitive Skills Trainer with 22 years of rich experience in the field of counselling and psychology. She also works as a consultant for various organizations and schools.

The vast possibilities that the brain offers propelled Ms. Karia to establish B FiT [Brain Fitness for All] - a one-of-a-kind brain-training organization in India, devoted to creating awareness and advocacy regarding the importance of brain fitness. At BFiT, Ms. Karia helps learners of all kinds and ages achieve personal, academic, occupational and social enrichment using scientific evidence-based programs.

On the occasion of International Women's Day, we take this opportunity to E-launch our project Aamchi Mumbai, Safe Mumbai - a project to make the city safer for women and children, in partnership with UN Women. The occasion will be graced by:

    • Chief Guest - Smt. Adv. Yashomati Chandrakant Thakur (Sonawane), Hon'ble Minister of Women and Child Development, Maharashtra
    • Guest of Honour - Mr. Vishwas Nangare Patil (IPS) - Joint Commissioner of Police, Law and Order, Mumbai
    • Special Invitee - Ms. Noopur Jhunjhunwala, Monitoring, Evaluation & Partnerships Lead - UN Women

Our Indian women have more than proved that they can be at par, if not better in some cases, with men, be it in the Government, Corporate sector, Science field and the Arts not only in India but Internationally too.

However, there are more women who have unfulfilled dreams and as a society we owe it to make a better world for them. A woman can reach great heights when she is fearless and not afraid for her and her child’s safety. Women and child physical and mental safety is the basic need for any kind of progress.

Keeping in mind that the responsibility to achieve a safe city has to be shared by citizens, government, police and the society at large, let's all come together to launch a movement to make our maximum city, maximum safe.

Join us for an inspiring afternoon to create a widespread effect in making Aamchi Mumbai, Safe Mumbai.

A 70-day drive of 27000 kms from Coimbatore to London covering 24 countries, a legendary road trip turned out to be a life-changing experience. The journey started on March 26 and ended on June 5, 2017.

The expedition covered Myanmar, China, Kyrgzstan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Russia, Belarus, Poland, Slovakia, Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria, Macedonia, Serbia, Croatia, Austria, Czech Republic, Switzerland, Germany, France, Belgium, and Netherlands before reaching London.

Moscow’s spirit mirrors its uncontainable size. It is the best place to comprehend the power and might of Russia. With a history stretching back a millennium, Moscow is known for its military battles and political struggles , with remains of the Soviet state scattered all over the city. Alongside vast public squares and unique Russian architecture, you’ll find Communist-era monuments and commanding citadels. But Moscow is far from stuck in the past, with plenty of shopping, excellent restaurants and a buzzing nightlife to add to the mix. Tour architectural wonders, discover fine art and ballet, and savour local fine food flavours in this gold domed city. During any season, at any hour of the day, it thrills visitors with its artistry, history and architecture.

Russia’s cultural capital, St. Petersburg has all the ingredients for an unforgettable travel experience . A host of European architects were employed to add marvellous cathedrals and palaces to the city’s layout. These, combined with the maze of canals and over 300 bridges, cause the city to have a distinctly European feel. There are also galleries, impressive monuments and a wealth of museums adding to the glory of Russia’s first great modern city. From the mysterious twilight of the White Nights to world beating opera and fine ballet productions on magical winter evenings, St Petersburg charms and entices in every season.

    A world can begin
    To turn around
    In the quiet spinning
    Of a wheel

A master, a pioneer and a visionary, Mr. Gaurang Shah has, for nearly two decades, worked tirelessly towards the revival of hand-woven textiles in India. Join us with Mr. Shah as he presents मीत – An Anthology of Jamdani & खादी, A Canvas.

Let's witness the skill of the master women weavers, appreciate & applaud the adaptability of these women weavers, their intent to be modern and redesign the basic looms under the guidance of Mr. Gaurang Shah and thereby creating sustainable livelihood through weaving.

In मीत – an Anthology of Jamdani – Presenting 30 timeless Jamdani masterpieces from different states/weaving techniques in a 6-yard canvas, he is also presenting his unique creations by merging techniques to create outstanding texture and patterns.

In खादी, A Canvas, Mr. Shah interprets thirty landmark paintings from artist Raja Ravi Varma’s work, translating the art into wearable canvases. Paying tribute to the swadeshi philosophy of Mahatma Gandhi, these Great Indian Epic scenes from RRV’s portraits have been transferred, warp by warp, on to sarees woven in hand spun khadi.

BE PREPARED IN UNCERTAIN TIMES…Your legacy handbook - 21st November 2020

    Day:   Saturday
    Time:  4:00 pm
              Video Conferencing on Zoom

Who amongst us has been unclear or not known what to do when a loved one passes away? What if your loved one wanted to donate their organs or kept important bank, property or insurance documents somewhere and you were completely clueless ? Even before Covid- 19 plagued the world, no one was immortal. Hence when death is inevitable, why make it harder on your loved ones ? There is no reason why grieving loved ones should run pillar to post. Hence it is best to be prepared, as much as one possibly can, in uncertain times. This legal committee event is not for women or men alone but should be attended by one and all since it affects everyone !

BE PREPARED IN UNCERTAIN TIMES…Your legacy handbook aims to offer a simplified yet complete transparent system to organize everyone's life. Being the basis for a wealth guide – the event will help EVERYONE organize not only valuable papers, important information, records of possessions but also determine what is important to an individual or a family.

It is a great tool and extremely valuable to understand it from a legal perspective and what is admissible in Court as organizing personal, financial and business information can be intimidating. In emergencies and uncertain times, being prepared can help in the simplest ways and be helpful to a caregiver or someone managing the affairs of an individual since it collects all the important information in one place.

The guest speakers for the session will be - Hon’ble. Mr. Justice G. S. Sistani (Retd.) and Ms. Salonee Sanghvi.

Justice G. S. Sistani retired from the Delhi High Court earlier this year. As a lawyer, he was appointed as Amicus Curiae in several cases by the High Court and worked pro bono for the Delhi High Court Legal Services Committee. As a Judge, he was known to be Mr. Cool, due to his calm and patient demeanor.

Ms. Salonee Sanghvi CFA is the Founder of My Wealth Guide. She has over 16 years of experience in the financial services industry. Recognizing her contribution to the field, she was featured as Top 100 Women in Finance in India 2020 by Association of International Wealth Management of India.

  • Cruising with Aqua Expeditions - A Virtual Experience - 11th September 2020

    Cruising with Aqua Expeditions - A Virtual Experience - 11th September 2020

    Day:       Friday
    Time:  3:30 pm
              Through Video Conferencing on Zoom

Since travel plans are currently impacted virtual cruising will take you to the heart of every destination and fulfil your wanderlust.

Cruising has been viewed negatively & the safety of its guests questioned, yet few are aware of the highest standards of sanitisation maintained by cruise liners during normal times. Post COVID measures sit at a far higher level making cruising the most experiential & safest form of travel & tourism. Young travel professionals unequivocally stated that Cruise Tourism will be the first of the block once all travel restrictions are withdrawn.

Since founding and operating ‘Aqua Expeditions’ 13 years ago, it has been the vision and mission of Mr. Francesco Galli Zugaro to create intimate, small ship expeditions to distant parts of the world. What Aqua has stood for since inception, has now come to the forefront, “Access is the measure of luxury”.

Mr. Francesco Galli Zugaro, CEO and founder of Aqua Expeditions will be in conversation with Mr. Keshav Arya, Partner in PureLuxe by KFT Corporation, Mumbai & will take you on a virtual journey down the Mekong River on Aqua Mekong & through the Komodo National Park, Spice Islands & Raja Rampat in Indonesia on Aqua Blu.

While doing so, they will portray the variety of excursion possibilities & most importantly cover the new higher safety & sanitation standards under their post COVID measures.

  • A Blooming Story of Mr. Ankit Agarwal - 5th August 2020

A Blooming Story of Mr. Ankit Agarwal - 5th August 2020

    Day:       Wednesday
    Time:   3:30 pm
              Through Video Conferencing on Zoom

IMC Ladies’ Wing invites you for an inspiring dialogue between social entrepreneur and influencer - Mr. Ankit Agarwal, Founder and CEO of Kanpur Flowercycling Pvt Ltd. and a well-known journalist and writer - Ms. Devna Gandhi.

Eight million metric tonnes of flowers are scattered in India’s temples and mosques every year. These flowers are a symbol of devotion and thus believed that these sacrosanct flowers should be discarded into water bodies like the River Ganges to respect their sanctity. Sadly, these sacred flowers rot and create havoc in the fragile ecosphere of the water body and leach into the groundwater.

Phool.co, a brand of Kanpur Flowercycling Pvt Ltd is a social enterprise that preserves the Ganges River by collecting the floral waste from holy places that is dumped in the river and flower cycling (up-cycling) it into patented fertilizer and incense sticks and in the process providing employment and livelihood to many underprivileged women.

Hear the story of real grit and courage of a young entrepreneur listed in Forbes 30 Under 30 in 2018, as he sets about cleaning the river Ganges of its gigantic amounts of temple waste that is steadily killing the ecosystem and further breaking barriers by employing marginalized women and giving them the dignity long denied to them.

Understand the importance and process of flower cycling as Mr. Agarwal will demonstrate how the innovative products are made using the flower waste.

Mr. Agarwal inspires by example to take action and create the larger-than-life impact you wish to see happen and change what seems inevitably insurmountable and beyond you!

Food does affect the mood. Hormonal changes are normal in an individual’s journey of life. More so in women, there is a distinct correlation between hormones and mood which at many levels is associated with food.

There are certain foods that scientifically act as potent anti-depressants and these foods are none other than the yummy cookies, pastries and chocolates.

But when we are trying to maintain the weight & achieve certain body composition goals, these high calorie carbohydrate rich foods are eliminated first.

    • Is there a right way to get a balance between mood & food?
    • To get that “happy feeling," and still meet our body goals?
    • Does a compromised state of mind get better with eating cookies?
    • Should we sit with a bucket of ice-cream to overcome our Monday blues?
    • Does a bar of chocolate eaten on a bad mood day justify our food choice?

Kinita Kadakia Patel is India’s leading Sports Nutritionist specializes in sport-specific diets along with weight management. She has established a leading nutrition centre called 'MEALpyramid'. She is the official Sports Nutritionist for the Mumbai Indians team of the Indian Premier League. She holds a graduate & post-graduate degree (MSc.) in Dietetics with research in Sports Nutrition. Besides this, she has further qualifications from globally reputed institutes like: The Oxford College – London | Sports Dietetics Association – Australia | International Sports Science Association – USA.

Let’s get the answers to these questions through an insightful webinar with Nutritionist Ms. Kinita Kadakia Patel.
