Iyengar, he was accustomed to ways that were severe and conventional. The true impact of yoga is better understood, he explains, when one understands that yoga is nothing but "unity", derived from the word "Yuj" and yoga is life itself. He believes that to treat yoga as a power building technique is to belittle its virtues, as it is yoga which creates the positive vibes, when practiced with compassion.

The Ladies’ Wing has organised a visit to H N Reliance Foundation Hospital and Research Centre, Girgaon, Mumbai.
The Dhirubhai Ambani Foundation joined the management of Sir Hurkisondas Nurrotumdas Hospital and Research Centre with the commitment to restore the hospital to its erstwhile glory by re-structuring the hospital services and setting up state-of-the-art technology in the field of healthcare.
The hospital owns the latest of clinical technology across core specialties, as well as imaging and diagnostics. The new hospital is built to deliver high standard clinical care. The hospital aims to bring about a paradigm shift in the way health care is delivered in India, in step with the latest global practices, and emerge as a world class health facility.
HNH&RC offers tertiary level healthcare facilities that include cardiology, cardio-thoracic surgery, neurology and neuro-surgery, oncology, urology, nephrology, paediatric and neonatal surgery, gastroenterology, micro-ear surgery, retinal surgery and other services.

Most people believe that paying their taxes diligently and timely will help them to get a good night's sleep and so they discharge their tax liability year after year by paying income tax on time. However, many taxpayers remain ignorant about paying another form of tax which is charged on the assets gathered by them – i.e. Wealth Tax, the less famous sibling of income tax.
Mr. K. V. Chowdary, Chairman of Central Board of direct taxes (CBDT) the top policy making body of the Income Tax department will speak to the members on issues pertaining to tax. The talk will highlight concerns regarding taxation incentives for women entrepreneurs, wealth tax on jewellery inheritance, taxation issues regarding gifts of properties to children living abroad, and several other issues relating to income and wealth tax issues for women.
Mr. K. V. Chowdary has earlier served as the Director General of I-T (Investigations) in the national capital where he headed a number of high-profile tax probes, including the 2G spectrum allocation case and the HSBC Geneva taxpayers list along with a number of cases dealing with blackmoney and tax evasion.

This selection of Rabindranath Tagore's stories exemplifies his remarkable ability to enter the complexities of human relationships. Within seemingly simple plots, Tagore portrays with extraordinary compassion and lyricism the predicament of women in traditional Bengali contexts.
This sensitively-written 72-page novella, Broken Nest (Nastanir), is said to be semi-autobiographical and was made into the movie Charulata by Satyajit Ray featuring Soumitra Chatterjee, Madhabi Mukherjee and Sailen Mukherjee.

Blessed with a sonorous voice, he is a versatile singer and likes to sing classical, ghazals as well as popular numbers and bhajans. He is a Sangeet Visharad with an MA in music and has given performances all over the country. To unite Music and Medicine, he has started an organization called MUSIC CLINIC to promote good health through music and has influenced a huge number of people in the past few years.
Dr. Joshi has conducted workshops for people of all age groups and backgrounds including educational institutions, corporates, cultural and social organizations and associations and government organisations including police and jails. His dynamic personality, superb eloquence and ability to reach out to people has benefited many and has also demonstrated the efficacy of music therapy as a therapeutic tool in several health issues.

SWelcome to the first ever Book Club initiated by the Ladies’ Wing to enable members to analyze books in a structured yet informal and interesting way.
Great Books invite us to put aside for a while our way of looking at the world and to enter someone else’s perspective—a perspective that is much larger, deeper, and more thought out than our own.
The first masterpiece to be discussed is the novel 'Ice-Candy Man' by the Pakistani - American author Bapsi Sidhwa. This is the first novel by a female novelist from Pakistan which deals with the partition of India and its aftermaths and describes the fate of people in Lahore. The novel deals with "the partition of India through the eyes of a girl Lenny growing up in a Parsee family, surviving through female bonding and rebellion.
An absorbing and well-reviewed book, it has been described as both hilarious and heartbreaking. The novel was adapted by Deepa Mehta for the movie Earth which starred Amir Khan, Nandita Das, Rahul Khanna amongst others.

Her book 'Consumer Is King' has been released in 12 languages and she has authored another concise book 'Consumer Rights & You' where important landmark judgments on real cases are given in simple language.

As newborns and infants, we slept for hours through the day and night; but, as problems and stresses of daily life increased (not to mention, irregular food habits, pollution, competition, and influx of gadgets ) our sleep hours reduced along with reduced immunity and a big compromise on its quality.
Ms. Bijal Doshi will give us a presentation on myths and realities about Sleep Deprivation. She will give us an insight on ways to overcome various sleep disorders like insomnia, panic attacks, hyper anxiety, dreams etc.
Ms. Doshi is a certified Yoga Therapist, who conducts several group classes in South Mumbai since 14 years and has been passionately sharing the knowledge she has in the field of Naturopathy, Ayurveda, Acupressure and Body Balance which fall under the umbrella of Ashtang Yoga. She will help de-mystify the suggested therapies some of us already practice and why they may not have given the intended outcome of overcoming the problems through herbal remedies, Yoga asanas, Pranayam, meditation and Yoga Nidra.

Prevention is the best defense against cancer. The second best defense is early detection. Breast and cervical cancers are two of the most common forms of cancer affecting women today. As a special offer for the upcoming International Women’s Day, we are organizing a Women’s Health Checkup Camp at BYL Nair Hospital which will comprise of a talk on cancer prevention followed by clinical examination. This will include a Pap smear in Gynaec OPD, Clinical Breast Examination by a Surgeon, Pelvic Ultrasound and Mammography by a Radiologist. This checkup is highly recommended for women above the age of 40.

This year, we are celebrating womanhood by launching “INK Women”. Since its inception, INK has created a well-established community of luminaries. The INK community is truly unique in its global reach as well as the incredible stories and ideas of its members.

"Raise the Red Lantern" – A Tale of Beauty and Passion.

The story of the film depicts the travails of a concubine who has just joined the household of a rich family. Raise the Red Lantern's true subject is the wives/concubines who vie for his attention, hoping that the lanterns will be lit at their house indicating his favour. The movie is a masterpiece of 1990s. It is pure cinema. In Raise the Red Lantern that very expressive yearning for something more in life, something beyond the present circumstances, is what dominates the visual expression.

The first is collection, “Flemish Masters” are exclusive paintings and engravings from the 17th century and includes the Flemish masterpieces in the CSMVS (Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Vastu Sangrahalaya)
The second, “The Cyrus Cylinder” is a declaration of Emperor Cyrus of ancient Persia and is acknowledged to be the forerunner of the Magna Carta and the modern-day Bill of Rights - and even goes much beyond those too.

The new Movie Club will be flagged off with the screening of “The Good Road”, India’s entry to the Oscars.
The Good Road is a 2013 Indian drama film written and directed by Gyan Correa. The film was selected as the Indian entry for the Best Foreign Language Film at the 86th Academy Awards, but it was not nominated. The film won the award for Best Gujarati film at the 60th National Film Awards. The film is told in a hyperlink format, where several stories are intertwined with the center of the action being a highway in the rural lands of Gujarat near the town of Kachch. The film is the first Gujarati film ever selected to represent India at the Oscars.
The Director Mr. Gyan Correa will be present to interact with the members and share his experience.

Relatives who partake in this “tepung tawar” or blessing custom will anoint the couple’s palm with scented water, pandan, potpouri and rice.
