Theme of the year - Women Integration, Skills and Entrepreneurship

MRS. SHALINI PIRAMAL - President

Mrs. Shalini Piramal is married to the industrialist Mr. Dilip Piramal of VIP Industries Ltd and is a mother of an 8 year old daughter Priyadarshini Piramal.

She have been a homemaker for the last 10 years. As her husband Mr. Dilip Piramal was invited to be the president of Indian Merchant Chambers, she too was given an offer to be the President of the Ladies Wing of Indian Merchant Chambers. She readily agreed to take up this position.

But, when she got this opportunity to incline herself more towards the social causes and responsibilities in society for the welfare of women, she was extremely delighted.

Her focus will be to take up many women related issues in Maharashtra, and also to find a way to enhance women empowerment, provide vocational training to women in villages, educate them to make them economically independent and self reliant.

Apart from this, she would like our chamber to be a source for all women who need medical assistance, job opportunities and resolve other women related issues. Her objective is also to involve internationals NGOs in our social projects.

Although it is apparent she may not be able to accomplish everything in my one year of tenure she would at least like to make a start and give the best and continue to work on these lines in future as well. She also wish to live up to the expectations that of the chamber.

To support women capitalize on the new opportunities that the country has to offer, the theme and vision she envisage for this year will be WISE – Women Integration, Skills and Entrepreneurship. She believes that our country is striving hard to provide equal rights to women. While many women have made a mark for themselves there are million others waiting for an opportunity. Integrating them into a module of completeness and taking responsibility of their social well being is the need of the hour.

Since IMC is the premier business and professional women’s organization consisting of entrepreneurs, she wants professionals and skilled women integrating them to create socio economical awareness is required.

She strongly believe that for the outstanding contribution that women have given to society and the world at large by way of skills, social responsibilities and upliftment of what was earlier called the weaker sex “WISE” has been aptly chosen.
